Dispute or correct a record

Anyone can ask SIG to correct, annotate, suppress, or remove a record — or dispute an accurate one and attach a response. This channel is reachable in one click from any claim on the site.

How submissions are prioritized

Privacy-harm and safety claims are handled before all others, including factual corrections (SIG-GOV-003). You do not need to identify yourself — the only exception is a legal demand that requires standing (SIG-GOV-002).

What are you reporting?

• Privacy harm — This record exposes someone to a concrete privacy or safety harm. (prioritized above all others)
• Security concern — A safety or security risk arising from this material. (prioritized above all others)
• Copyright claim — A claim that copyrighted material is used without permission.
• Factual error — A claim is wrong, out of date, or misattributed.
• Legal demand — A formal legal request. This is the one category that may require standing. (may require standing)

What can happen

• Correct — a new, corrected assertion is appended; the prior value is preserved and stays citable (SIG-GOV-005).
• Annotate — a response is attached alongside the claim, even when the claim is accurate (SIG-GOV-010).
• Suppress — removed from public view, retained internally under seal (SIG-GOV-007).
• Delete — reserved for material SIG must not hold at all; a content-free tombstone records that a deletion occurred (SIG-GOV-008).
• Refuse — declined, with published reasoning. Refusal is a real, exercisable option (SIG-GOV-004).

Submit

Every submission and its outcome is counted in the publiccorrections log's transparency report (SIG-GOV-011). A correction, once made, appears there in full.
